Chelsea Billings
Novice Group
Email
Coach Chelsea has coached the Novice group of
BBST since she graduated high school in June of 2008. Chelsea swam
with BBST from the time that she began her competitive swimming
career in 2001 to 2007, training all the way up from the Novice
group to the Seniors. She also swam for the Sehome High School
team, where she was a state competitor, a team captain, and voted
"Most Inspirational Swimmer" two years a row. She served as a team
captain in her senior year, during which she helped her team to
take the state title as well as go undefeated the entire season.
She competed in both of her individual events (100-yard butterfly
and 200-yard IM) at the state championship, and swam the butterfly
leg of Sehome's medley relay team that placed 1st at state. She was
one of two athletes from Sehome High School nominated as "Leaders
in Sportsmanship" for the 2007-08 school year.
This is Chelsea's junior year at Western
Washington University, where she is studying Elementary Education.
She has wanted to be a teacher forever, as she absolutely ADORES
kids and has a keen love of learning herself. Chelsea is a very
outgoing, positive, and energetic person. As a coach, her top goals
are for her swimmers to have fun, as well as establish a core
foundation of proper swimming technique that they will carry with
them through their competitive swimming careers. Chelsea has loved
every minute of coaching the Novice. She considers herself very
fortunate to have the opportunity to give back to the community by,
in her words, "hanging out with the coolest kids around and sharing
my knowledge of competitive swimming!"
In her free time, Chelsea enjoys listening to
music, hanging out with her friends, laughing, and drinking tea.
Her hobbies include writing, drawing, and songwriting, and she is
also pursuing a modeling career.
